Industries Served

Manufacturing, automotive, retail, real estate, and logistics and service entities are just a few of the industries served by Rödl Warren Averett.

Manufacturing/Fabricating

At Rödl Warren Averett, we excel in the traditional skills of accounting, taxation, auditing and management services, while specializing in manufacturing, distributing and technology. Located in the center of the United States’ Southern automotive corridor, our firm serves a significant number of automotive suppliers.

Members of our professional staff work to provide our clients with the best of technical capabilities while staying uniquely attuned to the particular needs of the industry involved. Rödl Warren Averett understands the manufacturing process, particularly the special challenges faced by first- and second-tier automotive suppliers. Specializations include:

  • Manufacturing Processes
The use of technology in the manufacturing process to reduce conversion cost is critical to the success of most manufacturers. Rödl Warren Averett works with management to evaluate the costs and benefits, as well as the return on investment, for such technology projects.
  • Customer Delivery
Our clients have extremely high expectations regarding quality and delivery. Rödl Warren Averett’s expectations are just as high, especially when focused on EDI ordering, just-in-time and just-in-sequence delivery, accessing our client’s system to track order status, and other e-commerce activities. Our information technology specialists can analyze current systems and future needs, with an emphasis on safeguarding access to internal systems.
  • Management Accounting Systems
We help our clients make correct and timely decisions based on the relevant data produced by management accounting systems, including activity-based costing systems. Accounting systems and techniques encourage managers to make decisions that blend with the overall objectives of the company. Rödl Warren Averett evaluates accounting systems and develops goal congruencies.

Automotive Suppliers

Alabama is in the center of the United States’ Southern automotive corridor and is home to several original equipment manufacturing companies (OEM) supplying goods to the automotive industry. Growth of the automotive industry in the Southeast, and in Alabama in particular, has occurred at a phenomenal pace. The state now boasts three automotive manufacturers, including Mercedes, Hyundai and Honda. Additionally, three more are less than 50 miles from the Alabama border, including Kia, Volkswagen and Toyota. Today there are more than 100 first- and second-tier automotive suppliers, and the majority of our clients are in this industry.

Rödl Warren Averett understands the manufacturing issues faced by automotive manufacturers and their suppliers. Our staff has extensive experience in dealing with manufacturing companies, and specifically with automotive manufacturing suppliers.

Rodl currently serves approximately 650 U.S. subsidiaries of foreign parent companies throughout the United States, including approximately 85 automotive suppliers. Rödl Warren Averett is the only Alabama CPA firm to hold membership in the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association.

Logistics and Service Entities

The significant expansion of German and Korean manufacturers into the Southeastern U.S. has created a need for service entities and logistics companies to locate in the vicinity. The business models for such entities are more labor-intensive than a manufacturing or distribution company and should be managed accordingly. Rödl Warren Averett understands the needs of logistics companies and service entities and has considerable experience serving them.

Retirement Plans

While defined-benefit pension plans still exist in the U.S., the most common retirement plan offered to employees of U.S. companies is the 401k defined contribution retirement plan. 401k plans are originated and implemented under the guidelines of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). For the protection of the employees, these plans are monitored by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).

Compliance requirements include annual filing requirements with the DOL (Form 5500) and for plans with more than 100 eligible participants, an annual audit of the plan's financial statements. Rödl Warren Averett has a thorough understanding of the compliance requirements of the U.S. Department of Labor and performs numerous annual audits each year of plan financial statements.

Retail

Rödl USA clients include retail entities and several large franchise entities. Issues of importance to retail entities include security over internet sales, point of sale reporting systems and the large differential in sales tax reporting that can vary by each state, county and city.

Real Estate

Rödl USA real estate clients include large developers of high-rise residential projects, developers of multi-use projects and real estate funds for foreign investors. Our industry knowledge of real estate transactions, reporting to partners and income tax consequences assists foreign investors in considering the local U.S. requirements in carrying out a global initiative.
